Stop always thinking about the negative possibilities

Experience something first, then evaluate it.

The other day, I was talking to a friend of mine and she was talking about the guy she was dating.

I asked her, how’s it going?

She said, it’s good. I just don’t know though. I feel like in a year, I’ll be wanting a long-term commitment and be more serious about us, and I don’t know where he’ll be.

I get why a lot of us get into this type of thinking — we want to have some vision of the future.

The reality is though, we can all make up different scenarios in our head. There’s no value in doing that.

In her case, no matter what scenarios she comes up with in her head, she doesn’t know where he’ll be mentally after experiencing 1 year of the relationship.

She’ll just have to wait and see where he’s at after 1 year. That’s the only way.

Whatever your situation is, let it play out and then evaluate it when you need to evaluate it.

Predicting the outcome before you’ve experienced the situation isn’t helpful.
