Please don’t do it

I know there’s a lot of hurt.

I know there’s a lot of anxiety.

I know you’re questioning everything.

You’re asking yourself

Is it worth it to keep on going this way?

What kind of life is this?

Always feeling anxious and suicidal.

I know you’ve had tough nights before.

And that’s making you further ask

Will this pain ever go away?

Will life ever get better?

I know what you’re thinking -

If I take this action, the pain will go away.

And you’re right,

the pain would go away if you did what you’re thinking about doing.

But let me tell you something, by doing that, you’re giving up on yourself.

And you don’t deserve that.

You deserve the fullest chance at living a fruitful life.

I know you don’t feel this way right now

But the reality is

You are an amazing human being,

You are loved, and

The world is a better place with you in it.

The trauma you’ve faced,

I’m sorry that you’ve had to face that.

But I’m telling you,

Don’t be defeated by that trauma.

You have a gift in this world.

And you need to share that gift with people.

And that can only happen by living.

I know you’re reading this or listening to this, and thinking okay,

But there’s still a lot of questioning going on in my head.

I can’t get these voices out. I’m still freaking out.

For that, take a deep breath.

Keep taking them till you feel a little calmer.

And then, do something you love to do.

Listen to your favorite song or tv show,

Go for a walk or exercise,

Play a video game,

call a friend,

whatever you love to do, do it.

And then, just go to bed.

I know it’ll be tough,

I know you won’t go to bed happy or fulfilled

You probably won’t fall asleep for a couple hours.

But I promise you it’s the right decision.

You’ll soon realize that happier version of yourself

You can work to become that person.

It may take time, it may be tough,

It may require cutting people off

but you can become that person.

And in becoming that person, the journey becomes completely worth it.

Because it meant you didn’t listen to those negative voices

Those negative images and thoughts of yourself

And you gave yourself a chance.

I know all this, because I was there too, where you are.

Right where you are. In my car on the way to a gun store.

But today, I’ve worked myself to get to a much better place.

If I can do it, so can you.
