The other day, I was speaking to a friend mine — she’s worked a couple years in the accounting profession.
She hasn’t loved her time and experience and asked, is it too late for me to try something different, like marketing or will that look bad as someone with a Masters in Accounting and a CPA?
Obviously, some people will question why you’re leaving accounting, but most people have the self-awareness to understand that accounting is not for everyone.
A lot of people try something out professionally and after experiencing it, change fields.
Additionally, as someone in your 20s, I would say, this is the best time to try a different field.
As time goes on and your responsibilities increase, trying something different will logistically get harder and harder.
Think of it this way — changing your profession as a single 25 year old living in a rented apartment is a lot easier than changing your profession as a 40 year old married individual with children and a mortgage.
