Don’t assume how someone’s doing through social media

The other day, a friend of mine called out one of our other friends for lack of communication and doing a bad job keeping up.

My other friend then explained he had been going through a tough time and honestly hadn’t done a good job of keeping up or communicating with anyone, not just my friend.

I think it’s easy sometimes to judge without context, especially for friends who live geographically far away.

All we use is social media, which usually only shows positive posts, and we think we know how they’re doing.

I think if you are upset at someone, before you decide to call them out, I think have a private conversation to check in with them and see how they’re actually doing, and then bring up what you want to bring up if you feel it’s appropriate.

Understand context before you jump to conclusions or judge.
