Having this 5 minutes of my eyes closed, breathing in and out, and just being aware of my emotions and thoughts/what I’m concerned helps me slow down my brain before I begin my work day.

After meditating, I write down the things that are occupying my mind (whether they be worries, things I still have to do) on a piece of paper.

For some reason, by writing the concerns in my mind down, it helps my brain to not worry/focus on them as much.

Additionally, if it’s something I need to do, it doubles as an added benefit to have tangible reminder to remember to do that task.

  1. Write 3 things about my day I was grateful for before I go to bed

Doing this activity forces me to see the good in the day and be appreciative of the good things that happened.

Sometimes, even on a boring work day, I can still say simple things like I’m thankful for my health today, I’m thankful I exercised today and I’m thankful for being able to watch basketball.

I think this activity also has the added benefit of helping to continually re-wire my brain to think more positively and see the good.
